Day 6 (August 22)
Another long task of 151km with 75 pilots at goal! This could have been the day of re-conquest if only luck was on our side. Alex, in fact, takes off at the 2nd start and at the half of the tasks he reaches the group, which took off 20 minutes before him. But unfortunately his last glide is on a very descending flight path, while the French pilots Bruno Guillen and Antoine Bosselier (who took off lower) are gliding on a much more profitable flight path.

Conclusion: Alex arrives at only 50mt before goal and limits his damage at one broken down tube after having avoided the electricity wires and lands on the field next to the official landing field. If Alex would have reached the goal, he would have brilliantly won the daily task, while now he is on the 76th place with only the points for the kilometres he flew. The other 5 Italians all arrive at goal but suffer quite consistent gaps.

The French team has made an excellent task and are now right behind the Brazilian team and the Austrian team who overtakes us leaving us at the 5th position. The general results still sees Manfred on the 1st place.

Manfred Ruhmer's comment:
This day showed the importance of the right course line from the last turn point to the goal. While Robert was already leading, and some other pilots (Greg, Oleg, me and others) were flying to the right side of the course line, the rest of the pilots took the left side under a cloud street and were able to fly into goal without needing to thermal again. This cost us about 10 minutes.

It was a good day with an interesting last part.
