Day 10 (August 26)
The imminent bad weather is drawing near; therefore the organization decides to move the goal 60km northwards from the take off. This decision turns out to be perfect; in fact it is raining in Brasilia while the sun is still shinning in the north. The today's task is 107km of which 92 km of speed session. More than 40 pilots arrive in goal.
Manfred wins the day even though his physical conditions are not perfect, followed by Gustavo Saldana (Guga) and Richard Walbec. Robert Reisinger is 4th and remains on the 2nd position in the general results.
Betinho, the local idol, lands at ±25km before goal and loses quite a lot of points and his hopes for the podium and vanishing. Antoine Bosselier arrives in goal ±5 minutes after Manfred.
Oleg Bondarchuck makes the fastest flight of the day, he is though more behind in the general results seen that he took off at the 3rd and last start, instead of Manfred who took off at the 2nd start window. The same lot for Christian Ciech, who obtains the 3rd best time behind Oleg and Manfred.

Alex is 11th and also today he has been plagued by ill luck. Right after the start, with more than 80km to cover, his VG cord breaks and therefore he is forced to fly the rest of the route with the GV completely pulled!! Also Davide, Tullio and Filippo arrive in goal, while Federico lands at a few kilometres before goal. Only one Australian, Craig Koomber, reaches goal and therefore his team should have gained one position in the general team results.
For the next 2 days we expect rainy days.
Manfred Ruhmer's comment:
After the race day I was not feeling very well in the morning. I had a food poisoning but thanks to the Doctor of the French team, who gave me some medicines, I was able to take off and follow the course. Luckily the task was not too long and with "low energy flying style" I made it to be the first at goal. I just took a good decision at the last part of the task and managed to get away form the rest. Bethino and Pedro tried to attack with a different course-line, but this wasn't the right day to attack and unluckily they landed at ±25km from goal. So Bethino lost again points and saw his place on the podium slip away.
