Friday, 11th of July
Astonishingly enough, given yesterday's wild evening at the camp, which was spiced up by the night time climbing over the roofs and the subsequent falls, today's 9 a.m. briefing saw a high number of competitors attending.

"The forecasts vary, just as was the case yesterday," announces Milan Bohuš to all and the gathered flock departs to Stará kopa. But a relatively strong gusting wind on the parking lot forces even the competitors to remain on the ground today and it looks like a repeat of yesterday.

The discipline announced at the meeting today is the 50km, its finish line being found right on the runway under the hill, with the only turnaround point today being the motor-rest in the village of Lopej near Podbrezová. The four-hour starting window counts on the possibility of a gradual drop in wind speed, which later shows itself to be a second prudent decision. The first prudent decision was to bring along small ham sausages and start a fire at the edge of the forest.

Just like yesterday, Jaroslav Jandúch and Juraj Čiernik start off together at 12:10 p.m. and after patiently climbing they set off on the designated route. It is another half hour before Peter Borgula announces another wave of starts.

And while Juraj Čiernik is landing in strong wind (just like yesterday) at the five kilometre mark but, for a change, on the neighbouring field, because he did not take a fancy to yesterday's cornfield landing, Jaroslav Jandúch reaches the 9th kilometre of the route, where he is likewise forced to land.

 Taking off

Shortly after 1 p.m. an unnamed Czech pilot departs outside of the starting point and after a sudden collapse of the left half of the parachute canopy right over the start he falls into the trees to the left of the starting point with a thud. Luckily, neither the pilot nor the parachute suffer any damage as a result, and after two hours of cutting off branches the pilot is back down on the ground along with the parachute.

In the meantime, Peter Vyparina lands after a series of breakneck figures within sight of the starting point roughly at the three-kilometre mark and most of the others opt for a landing below the hill.

But after 2 p.m. the wind quietens down, exactly in accordance with expectations, with more complete columns forming, with their bases at around 2,300 metres. This time Michal Čierny gets another wave of starts underway, later followed by Peter Vrabec and others.

At 3:20 p.m. Jaroslav Jandúch and Juraj Čiernik, along with several others, are again ready at the start, trying to make the most of today's exceptionally long window for another attempt at lift-off. But no one is successful in surpassing the minimum point-scoring distance of five kilometres.

Jan Stehlik alias Hormon is taking off

The only one to fly past the turnaround point in Lopej today is Peter Vrabec, who returns in the direction of the finish at the 37th kilometre of the route. But because of the fact that at least 20% of pilots must overcome at least 15km in order for the discipline to be recognised, everyone ends the day without a point to their name. All that is left to do for the sixth day is to at least announce the names of the pilots on the starting line-up.
