Monday 2000-8-14
Thanks to an absolutely clear sky and a very weak wind on Monday Kralova Hola was again chosen as the starting ground. Before the motorcade of loaded cars arrived through Brezno, Polomka and Helpa below Kralova Hola to the village of Sumiac, huge cumulo-nimbus clouds popped up in the sky and the entire motorcade hesitantly stopped in the village. This immediately doubled the population of the village.

Local villagers attempted to capitalize, though in vain, on this hesitation caused by the storm clouds over the main crest by trying to offer over-ripe pears to Czech pilots at 18 Kc/Kg. They had no idea that the racers had long ago been spoiled by hamburgers and Coca Cola.

Following a long phone discussion with meteorologists, Robert Bozik called a short council in the middle of the village, at which it was decided to make Monday a non-competing day.

The short council was finished off by a peal of thunder and everyone quickly got into his or her cars. For unexplained reasons Lubin obviously was the most joyful about the non-competing day.

Following today's change of plan the overall placing remained without changes and so Honza Matejovsky, after his great showing yesterday, could enjoy his position in the top ten. Yesterday, for the third time so far, a complete beginner and newcomer to the competition, Tomas Jiranek, scored well on his Atlas, gradually getting ahead even of veterans Stibora, Kasuba and Mikulasek.
