Wednesday 2000-7-5
Even though the clouds broke apart yesterday afternoon and the weather was beautiful, the cancellation of yesterday's flying was definitely justified. Above the high cliff faces huge lenticulars formed in the strong wind and local gliders reached heights of up to 5500 meters above sea level.

 After a breakfast

The wind at an altitude of 1500 m above seal level declined to 12 m/s in contrast to yesterday, but fears of storm formation and showers along the front moving through, it was decided, already by the 9:00 briefing, to cancel the competition for the day. The competitors gradually split to play tennis, golf, go on mountain tours, and some even to fly. There's always something to do in the vicinity.

The Lesce airfield lies about 70 km from the port of Trieste. After not quite 10 km of direct flight North you already fly across the Austrian border and 25 km further on lies the Austrian city of Klagenfurt. The magestic 2000 crest which stretches from West to East along the border is called the Karawan Alps. The most widely known locations around the airport are the town of Bled on the shores of the Blejsk lake about 6 km West and lake Bohinjske lake about 20 km as the crow flies southwest. If someone wants to spend the following free days in this region and even fly along with the top Czech and Slovak paragliders, the most direct route is via the highway in Klagenfurt, south, across the mountain border crossing of Lojblpas.

 Always working

In the afternoon the jury evaluated the remaining batch of negatives, photographed during the third day of competition and again changes took place in the overall placing. This time far less dramatic though. But surprisingly even lead racer Mirek "Radar" Stehula was penalized when, in his own words, "... considered the most apparent intersection as the most important intersection.". Unfortunately the actual turning point was not at the most apparent intersection and unhappy "Radar" lost an even 270 points. But thanks to his large lead even after this "cut" he held his place in the lead of the competition as well as in the Czech Placing. Even though Frantisek Pavlousek is better oriented at intersections and managed to come within 8 points.

 Bad news

In the overall Slovak placing no changes were made even though Dusan Kultan lost more than 300 points. His lead over Robert Kralik was so high that the loss didn't affect Dusan's 4th place position.

The forecast for tomorrow though is somewhat unclear, to slightly pessimistic, but all hope that it will be possible to fly minimally two more disciplines. And after all, if it didn't work out, three flown rounds mean that the race is valid and the Championship of the Czech Republic can be announced. In light of the number of disciplines flown, Sunday for certain will not be a day of competition. the unfriendly weather therefore is clearly in favor of Mirek Stehula and Michal Orolin.
