Saturday 2000-7-8
As the meteorologists correctly forecast, Saturday morning's weather didn't look for the best, and the sky quickly clouded over. It as therefore decided to end this year's Czech Republic Championship and announce the results at noon. All the racers slowly began to pack up after breakfast.

It was therefore clear that if the evaluation of the photographed turning points changed nothing the resulting sequence of this year's Czech Republic Championship is clearly given. Jarda Gulich was apparently sure of his photographs and looked overly stisfied. 5th place in the sequence of Czech racers is surely a very good placing.

Radek Vecera who achieved 14th place in the overall positioning and 8th in the Czech Placing, was not the most enthusiastic of racers, but one can't have everything.

Slovak pilot Peter Mensak flew very well especially in the last disipline and was very satisfied with his results. In the Slovak Placing, he came in first. O verly satisfied was enve the director of the whole competition, Karel Janku. The entire Championship of the Czech Republic took place without any serious problems and even without any injuries. Fainting of certain individuals following the climb up to the runway, understandably, not being considered a problem.

A new feature of this year's Czech Republic Championship was the participation of Lucie Tvrdikova, the only competing girl. The char of Petra Kaus is thus starting to wobble a little, slowly but surely. Hopefully next year even Hanka Matyaskova who really flies better from year to year will also join. The number of competing women this way would multiply several times.

During the afternoon the overcast sky got even more overcast, it thundered several times and then started to rain. So the jury went to evaluation of the negatives. Some unclarities regarding the orientation of the church of St. Stefan, very much threatened the number one placed racer but after printing, the decision was made in his favor.
So the victor of the entire race unanimously became Mirek "Radar" Stehula, who is almost starting to belong amongst the veterans of the Czech paragliding scene, and to this year's competition he even brought along some of his students.

At second place in the overall sequence was Mirek Varvarovsky and Slovak pilot Peter Mensak stepped up onto the 3d step, but who had to leave before the announcement of the results.

Unfortunately the injured Ondra Dupal could not participate in this year's Czech Republic Championship and certainly the placing would have been mixed up a little by the duo of Sliva and Krausova, who for change of scheduling were competing somewhere else.
In closing we must thank Tomas Lednik, who arrange for an ISDN connection in the airport building withc markedly lowered the cost for data transfre from Slovenia to the SkyFly server during the reporting. And of course the ecellent tandem pilot Michal Pospisil, with the nickname of "Pastor" , thanks to whom we were able to get all of the arial photos, and hwo fulfilled all of the ridiculous requests of the photographer, with a camera bag full of equipment, so thoroughly, up until he , when landing, rolled around with it in a corn field, God forgive him ...
Flying in Slovenia understandably has its own magic. The high elevations of the Slovenian mountains and wild thermics on the steep hillsides of the rocky cliff faces are relatively rare for us Czechs.

And this year's Czech Republic Championship was not the last in these parts.
