Friday 2.09.05
"Publish an advertisement please that I'm looking for a paraglider and a desk after yesterday's party," still sleepy Hanka Matyaskova strolls across the camp in the morning and the last night has left visible marks on her face.

A morning fog tenaciously holds out the sun light today up to nine o'clock when the first bus crowded with pilots leaves the stadium for Kobala hill. But a heavy clouds formation starts to form during the noon briefing already and even if 67km long task with three turning points and a goal at Tolmin looks very interesting, the rain begins to fall down form a huge cloud above the taking off point five minutes before the starting window opening.

Canopies are packed quickly and moved under trees skilfully. And while a good part of the racing field runs away to a pub beside the passing route a specialist at local conditions Ondra Dupal decides to fly straight down to Tolmin.

After one hour of waiting the situation improves a bit and a new shorter task is declared which spans two turning points and its goal is located at the same point as the previous one was. Ninety minutes long starting window will be open at two o'clock and the starting point Podbela at half past three. The first leg of the route leads back towards Tolmin to Kozlov rob, the second one to the west side to Kuk and the last one to the goal at Tolmin again.

"Window is open!" an organizer's voice is heard and all pilots hurry to take off however not because of the competition but the escape from the rainy wall coming from the northwest side quickly. Fifteen minutes later the rain is falling not only at the taking off area but in the valley of Tolmin too and today's task is definitely cancelled. And because due to an experienced meteorologist Petr Jancik the probability of showers and storms was very low today but much higher tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, it's hard to guess how many tasks pilots will succeed in flying during next two days.
