Thursday 10.08.06
This morning looks similar to yesterday's one. Organisers try to hurry up but it proves completely useless later.

I have to go back to yesterday's task and to fill in that Ludek Prochazka was quite satisfied with his first PWC task. He flew his own way in a significant distance from the rocks and thus he liked the task fairly well.

Karin Appenzeller tries to persuade Czech team that Fiesch is usually strong but not as strong as yesterday. Thus the Swiss also seem to be normal people. The thermal activity worked really mysteriously and everybody could meet colaps everywhere.

The situation at 10.23 a.m. looks like this: if clouds lay low at noon, the task will be cancelled probably. An atmospherical front with strong wind would come at 2 p.m., Karin let us know. Olivier Russell, the winner of The Paragliding World Cup, brings an interesting story to us. He swung himself on a bar chair yesterday but it overturned and we can see a pretty bruise on his face now. Sometimes a sitting in a bar can be even more danger than flying.

The clouds rose up shortly before noon and 53.9 km long task over 6 turning points was declared. The take-off was rather dissaranged. When the task was declared, half of Czech team was waiting down in the city. They had to enter all turning points into their GPS units quickly in a cable car and they hardly cought the starting window. Just Gasper Prevc from Slovenia started his flight without knowing any turning points and so he had to scream around and try to determinate where the route ran.

The first group of pilots devided itself into two parts while flying towards the third turning point. The first part decided to fly in low heigth back and they landed with 18km flown. The second one took a risk and flew to 20th kilometer. Just three pilots reached that turning point and they return to the goal shortly before a deadline.

The winner of today's task Christian Tamegger landed on 47th kilometr, Marina Olexina finished the second, Martin Pacejka was the third and Klaudia Bulgakow the fourth. Due to the weather forecast we can expect that the ranking will stay the same till the end of the competition.
